Are you a breast cancer survivor and want to share your experience with someone who is currently facing a diagnosis? The American Cancer Society Reach To Recovery program matches trained volunteer breast cancer survivors to people living with breast cancer. Through the Reach To Recovery website or app, volunteers provide understanding and hope to individuals who need support during their breast cancer experience. It is a rewarding volunteer opportunity and a chance to build quality relationships with people who need your help.
This is a virtual volunteer opportunity. Volunteers connect with people facing breast cancer through a website or mobile app.
Weekly time commitment varies based on your preferences and the number of requests received. Scheduling is flexible, and the mobile app makes volunteering convenient. Volunteers should be able to respond to requests within 24 hours.
Reach To Recovery volunteers must complete an online training. Training is required to help ensure high-quality delivery of the program.
Volunteers give patients an opportunity to express feelings, talk about concerns, and ask questions. Most importantly, Reach To Recovery volunteers offer understanding, support, and hope because they themselves have survived breast cancer. It is an ideal volunteer opportunity for people who are breast cancer survivors, like one-on-one interaction, want a flexible schedule, and can encourage others. It’s a truly meaningful and rewarding experience.
Volunteers use a website or mobile app to provide support to breast cancer patients.
